(Test
of English for International Communication) |
|
The TOEIC (Test of English for
International Communication) Test is a worldwide professional
standard of English, with 1.5 million tests administered each
year. The TOEIC test is used for placement, selection and monitoring
learning levels and training programs. The test is made available
through The Chauncey Group International Ltd. and their approved
TOEIC representatives. The Chauncey Group is a global company
that provides human resource consulting, assessment and delivery
services to individuals and organizations in the professions
and the workplace. The TOEIC test is an English language proficiency
test for people whose native language is not English. It is acknowledged
worldwide as a highly reliable and valid means of assessing general
English proficiency. The TOEIC test measures the extent to which
employees can communicate in English on the job. The test does
not require specialized knowledge or vocabulary. It is designed
specifically to test abilities in English as it is used in real-life
situations in business and government. It does not require specialized
knowledge or vocabulary beyond that of a person who uses English
in everyday work activities. |
| WHAT
TYPE OF TEST IS IT? |
The TOEIC test is a two-hour,
200-item multiple choice test. It consists of 100 listening items,
administered by audiocassette, and 100 reading items. The questions
are based on examples of authentic English from the international
workplace and are prepared by linguists and English-language
specialists around the world. The test itself is prepared by
professional examiners at the Educational Testing Service (ETS),
in Princeton, New Jersey and is licensed to The Chauncey Group
International. Both ETS and Chauncey are recognized as leaders
in the field of measurement and certification. |
| HOW CAN THE TOEIC TEST HELP
YOU? |
| The TOEIC test
can help your career. By adding your TOEIC score and description
to your resume, you can demonstrate to prospective employers,
your ability to work in English. Your TOEIC score will provide
you with a standardized and quantifiable measurement of English
proficiency. For example, a TOEIC score of 605 to 780 would read
as follows on your resume: "Basic
working proficiency in English - Able to satisfy routine social
demands and limited work requirements." The TOEIC test is recognized
worldwide and can be a valuable asset in seeking employment. |
